OHP reflection
The part I enjoyed most about the process of the oral history project was hearing everyone's stories and getting diffrent perspectives. Sitting in my interview hearing the hard time Mrs. Chavis went through with her house really gave me insight to what people went through, and also helped me connect with other people who had similar experiences to me. I was strongly affected by Harvey and didn't get to hear many other stories before this, and thought I had it worse. After hearing this, I truly realized other people had it as hard as I did which made coping with it easier. As well as that, feeling in charge felt really nice. I felt like the boss while I was scheduling the interviews and I enjoyed that feeling of power.
For future students doing this same project, I would tell them to plan ahead for everything. Make sure everyone is able to complete their part, and leave yourself with enough time. Our project had many rough patches, for starters, our first interview didn't work out because we didn't have time to get ready, and our questions weren't very open ended. By the time of our second interview we had gotten our act together. Another big problem was many people didn't have the software or storage to help work on the interview video, so ultimately we were not able to make a movie like we had hoped. That caused our group a lot of stress because it made the people who were able to complete it have to do it in a day which was not possible. All in all, leave yourself with enough time to do everything, and plan ahead.
